    What is oil cooler?

An oil radiator is a type of heater that uses oil as a heat source to heat a room. The oil is heated by an electric heating element, and once hot, the heat is radiated into the environment. Oil-oil radiators are a popular choice for home heating due to their efficiency, low cost, and ease of use.

One of the benefits of oil radiators is that oil has a high heat capacity, which means it can retain heat longer than other materials. This allows the oil radiator to continue emitting heat even after it has been turned off, making it ideal for keeping a room warm for several hours.

Another advantage of oil radiators is that their design is usually compact and portable, making them easy to move from one room to another. In addition, many models have wheels and handles for facilitate its transport.

Oil oil radiators are also very quiet compared to other types of heaters, making them ideal for use in bedrooms or work spaces. In addition, their robust and durable construction ensures that oil coolers are a long-lasting investment.

How does the oil cooler work?

As we have already mentioned, the oil radiator is a type of electric heater that uses oil as a heat source to heat a room. Here’s how it works:

    • The oil cooler connects to an electrical power source via a plug and a power cord.
    • Once connected, the thermostat that controls the temperature of the radiator is activated. The thermostat measures the air temperature and sends signals to the heating element, which is responsible for heating the oil.
    • The heating element, which is usually made of resistance wire, heats up and transfers that heat to the oil, which is inside the radiator.
    • The oil heats up as the heating element heats up.Once the oil has heated up, it retains the heat and emits it to the environment through the radiator fins.
    • Radiator fins, which are usually made of metal, distribute heat in the room as air circulates through the radiator.
    • The radiator thermostat continuously monitors the room temperature and turns the heating element on or off as necessary to maintain the desired temperature.

What advantages does an oil radiator have over air heaters?

An oil radiator transfers heat to the air around it by convection without drying out the air like air heaters.

Air heating systems tend to dry out the environment, producing dry mucous membranes such as eyes and throat, producing a dry cough due to itching and discomfort in the eyes.

The use of air heating should be accompanied by humidifiers to counteract the dryness produced.

    Wood Finish Ultrasonic Humidifiers

How does an oil cooler work?

An oil radiator, as its name suggests, works thanks to heating the oil that is inside.

The oil gives a certain durability to the heat taken by this transfer thanks to resistances that are heated electrically.

Most oil radiators have two wheels to control their operation.

One of them controls the power with which the resistors that heat the oil are fed, this tells us how quickly the oil contained in the radiator will heat up.

The other knob is the thermostat and indicates from which temperature the current supplied to the resistances that heat the oil will stop.

When the temperature of the room falls below a certain level, the oil heating will be activated again by means of the resistors.

The hot oil inside the radiator is transferred to the air through a heat transfer process known as convection.

When the heat sensor is located, which determines when the resistance that heats the oil should be turned on or off, in the radiator itself, it is not very precise in terms of the exact temperature at which the change occurs, so normally the thermostat knob it does not indicate the degrees to which this change should be made.

    How to use oil cooler?

Using an oil cooler is quite simple and requires no special skills. Here is a guide on how to use an oil cooler:

    • Locate the oil radiator in a safe area: Place the radiator on a flat and stable surface, away from any flammable objects, such as curtains, furniture, etc. Make sure the power cord is not touching the radiator or any other hot surface.
    • Plug the radiator into an electrical outlet: Make sure the plug is correctly inserted into the outlet and that the power cord is not damaged in any way.
    • Turn on the oil cooler: Most oil coolers have an on/off switch. Turn on the radiator and select the desired temperature using the thermostat or the controls on the control panel.
    • Wait for the radiator to heat up: The oil radiator takes a few minutes to heat up, depending on its size and power. Once it has warmed up, it will start to emit heat and warm up the room.
    • Adjust the temperature: If the radiator has a thermostat, set it to the desired temperature to keep the room warm and comfortable. If your radiator doesn’t have a thermostat, you’ll need to turn it off and on as needed to maintain the desired temperature.
    • Turn off the radiator when you’re not using it: When you leave the room or no longer need to use the radiator, turn it off and unplug it. Be sure to allow the radiator to cool completely before moving or storing it.

How much does an oil radiator consume?

The consumption of an oil radiator can vary according to its power and the use it is given. In general, an oil radiator is considered an efficient heating device in terms of energy consumption, since it does not use fossil fuels and converts electrical energy into heat.

The power of the oil cooler is measured in watts (W) and can range from 500 W to 2500 W or even more on some models. The higher the power, the higher the electricity consumption.

To estimate the consumption of an oil radiator, the following formula can be used:

Consumption in kW = (Power in W / 1000) x Hours of use

For example, if you have an oil radiator with a power of 1500 W and you use it for 4 hours a day, the calculation would be:

    Consumption in kW = (1500 Wh / 1000) x 4 hours = 6 kW

The actual cost of electricity may vary by country or region, and the cost per kWh may also change depending on the power company’s rate, so it is important to check your electricity bill for the cost per kWh in your area.

    Oil cooler consumption

How to select an oil cooler?

Here we detail what characteristics you should look for when choosing an oil radiator:

Maximum powerThis indicates the maximum power with which the oil will be heated and that determines both the speed with which it will reach the desired temperature and the electricity consumption during the time it is heating.
ConsumptionConsumption is not only linked to the maximum power but also to the number of elements to transfer heat to the environment, the size of the room to be heated and the position of the thermostat.
Power levelsUsually there are 3 plus the standing position and it will determine the different speeds to reach the desired temperature. Sometimes we may be interested in using low powers even though it heats up more slowly because perhaps we have little power in the house and we want to avoid the differential jumping if we are using other appliances at the same time.
Number of elementsThey are the metal sheets or elements that the radiator is made of and will make it longer or shorter depending on the number of them. The more elements, the more surface contact with the air and the greater the speed with which the temperature is transferred to the environment and heat the room. The bigger the room to heat, the more elements it should have.
Cable lengthThe length of the cable will determine the freedom to position the radiator where it suits us best without using extension cords. A cables between 1m and 2m are recommended.
Anti rolloverNormally this translates into greater distance between wheels, making the support surface wider and improving its stability in the event of shocks or pushes.
Overload protectionIt is important that you have a protection system to avoid overloads in the electrical network and thus avoid possible fires.

You already have everything to choose your radiator from the best selection of oil radiators that we have presented for this 2022.
